Almost 7.200 companies in Romania suspend business in H1 2022

There are 7,190 companies that suspended their business in the first six months of 2022 in Romania, up 18.98% y-o-y, according to data released by the National Companies Registry Office (ONRC).

Most of the companies that suspended their activity in H1 2022 were from Bucharest, 740 (up 12.29% from H1 2021). The capital city is followed by the counties of Cluj, with 355 suspended companies (up 8.56%), Iasi – 326 companies (+34.16%) and Neamt – 290 (+27.19%).

The fewest suspensions were recorded in the counties of Ialomita – 41 (down 8.89% from H1 2021), Tulcea – 55 (+22.22%) and Covasna – 58 (-3 .33%).

By business area, the highest number of H1 2022 suspensions was in wholesale and retail trade, vehicle and motorcycle repair, 2,075 (+22.20%); other services – 730 suspensions (+7 .04%) and in professional, scientific and technical activities – 642 suspensions (+34.31%).
