American Vice President Kamala Harris meets the Philippine President

American Vice President Kamala Harris meets on Monday, in Manila, with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, during a visit to the Southeast Asian archipelago with the aim of strengthening ties between the two allies, AFP reports, Agerpres reads.

Kamala Harris is the most senior official to travel to Manila after the election of President Marcos in June.

The visit is part of Washington’s efforts to show its commitment to the Asia-Pacific, in the context in which China is expanding its influence in the region.
