Senator Claudiu Tarziu, the chairman of the National Leadership Council of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), rejected „firmly”, on Monday, the accusations that the formation whose leader is is anti-European, adding that AUR is a „Euro-realistic” party.
„In the speech I gave in (north of Bucharest) Targoviste on the occasion of the national launch of the AUR candidates in the June 9 (joint local and EP, ed. n.) elections, I formulated a series of criticisms at the current European Commission, which were mistakenly interpreted as anti-European attitudes and positions. Nothing more false! (…). We, AUR, are not anti-EU or Eurosceptic. We, AUR, are Euro-Realists. We are not against the European Union, but we oppose the anti-EU policies emanated by the current European Commission, which, simply put, torpedoes the European project. A generous project, founded as an alliance of sovereign states, equal in rights and obligations, with the aim of forming a space of peace and prosperity on the continent, based on Greek thinking, Roman law and Christian faith,” Tarziu explained in a press release.
According to AUR senator, the EU is becoming, day by day, „a centralized superstate, led by a bureaucracy elected by nobody, but imposed and controlled by the capitals of a few powerful countries”.
„What is the EU becoming, day by day? It is becoming a centralized superstate, led by a bureaucracy elected by nobody, but imposed and controlled by the capitals of a few powerful countries. This also results in the differential treatment among the member states: newcomers are disadvantaged against the old core of the organization. As for the EU bureaucracy, which is mainly under the dome of the European Commission, it forces the takeover of the essential attributes of the national governments, so that the sovereignty of the states is reduced to the point of suppression,” said the AUR leader.
