AUR’s (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) leader in the Senate, Petrisor Peiu, on Wednesday submitted to the Senate plenum a simple motion against the Minister of the Interior, Catalin Predoiu.
„Mr. President, please take note that today we are submitting the simple motion entitled ‘Romania is too lucky to need mediocre politicians. The moral guilt and political failure of Minister Catalin Marian Predoiu’. As many as 42 Senators signed the motion and we ask you to schedule the debate and vote,” said Peiu.
The President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, specified that the simple motion submitted by the AUR parliamentary group will be debated and voted on Monday, December 22.
„The main reason for submitting the motion is that we have given the leadership of the Ministry of Interior sufficient time already to fix what they did wrong in this year’s spring when Romania was excluded from the Visa Waiver programme. (…) No one at the helm of this Ministry wants to do anything to come with a solution for this. Romanians must have access to the United States just like other citizens of European Union member states have,” the leader of the AUR Senators’ group, Petrisor Peiu, told a press conference on Wednesday.
He also claimed, among other things, that „there are to many interim heads of county police inspectorate within the Ministry of Interior, which means that the central leadership of this forum exercises a form of political control over these heads of county inspectorates, who know that their interim mandates can end anytime”.
