In the second quarter of 2024, the average total monthly income stood at 8,210 RON per household, in nominal terms, representing 3,274 RON per person, an increase of 2% compared to the previous quarter, according to a press release of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Compared to the second quarter of the previous year, the total average monthly income per household increased by 18.8%, and that per person by 18.2%.

In the second quarter of 2024, the total average monthly expenses of the population accounted for 6,920 RON per household (2,760 RON per person) and represented 84.3% of total income, an increase of 77 RON per household compared to the first quarter 2024.

Compared to the second quarter of the previous year, the total average monthly expenses per household increased by 15.9%, and those per person by 15.4%.

The main destinations of the expenses made by the households are consumption (products for every day use and the countervalue of consumption from the household’s own resources) of 4,142 RON per month per household (59.8%) and transfers to the public and private administration and to the social insurance budgets in the form of taxes, contributions, fees of 2308 RON per household (33.4%), as well as covering some needs related to household production (financial production expenses and the value of fodder consumption from own resources) of 162 RON per household (2, 3%).

The lowest level of the average monthly expenses of the households of the population was the one made for education, of 26 RON per household (0.6% of the total average monthly consumption expenses).
