Babes-Bolyai University rector pays visit to China

Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca is strengthening its collaborations with top Chinese universities following a working visit made by Rector Prof Adrian Petrusel, PhD., to the Asian country, according to a press release issued on Monday by the higher education institution.

‘Between 11 and 20 November 2025, Professor Adrian Petrusel, Phd., Rector of Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (UBB), paid a working visit to China. The purpose of the visit was, on the one hand, to reinforce the support provided by the Confucius Institute for the development of Chinese language and culture studies at UBB, and on the other hand, to expand collaborations in scientific research, academic mobility and joint educational projects,’ the release shows.

During the visit the UBB rector held high-level meetings with leaders of prestigious Chinese universities, including Professor Jianmeng CHEN, Phd., President of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology in Hangzhou; Yunfeng YU, Director General of the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation in Beijing; Academician Professor Jin-Guang TENG, Phd., President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; and Academician Professor Junfa MAO, Phd., President of Shenzhen University, the release reads.

According to UBB, discussions focused on developing academic partnerships through joint research programmes, strengthening student and staff exchanges and identifying new directions for bilateral cooperation.

Rector Adrian Petrusel was accompanied on the visit by Professor Florin Streteanu, Phd., President of the University Senate at UBB, as well as Professor Feng Shaozhong, Phd., Director of the Confucius Institute at UBB. AGERPRES
