The Black Sea is essential from the point of view of security and connectivity for Europe and it is necessary to be an open and free sea, was the message sent on Friday by the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, during the works of the Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum.
Maritime security is important, because Romania’s objective is to have free navigation in the Black Sea, said the Romanian foreign minister, who added that a new maritime line was recently opened between Constanta and Karasu, Turkey, and recalled the agreement concluded between Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey for demining the Black Sea, which will soon begin to be implemented.
„Restoring peace and security in the Black Sea is essential for our security, for all of us. Obviously, this is not simple. We all want peace in Ukraine, but this peace cannot be in any conditions. It is a peace in the conditions put by Ukraine when Ukraine considers this. What is extremely important is to avoid a new frozen conflict in our region. That is why we support the peace formula presented by president Zelensky, and it is very important to achieve progress,” Luminita Odobescu also said.
In the opinion of the Romanian foreign minister, all these aspects show how necessary it is for the Black Sea to be a safe, open and free sea.
