Speaking to Gândul, former Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan said that PSD must talk to all parties, including AUR, to form a majority of 233 votes and unblock the government crisis.
Former Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan said on Monday, speaking to Gândul, that PSD was prepared to support the formation of a new government and provide experts and ministers, even if the party did not lead the government.
He also said that PSD was willing to take part in forming a government, but considered the main problem to be the lack of a parliamentary majority.
“We in PSD have said it: we form a government, we vote for a government. We support this. We will provide experts, even if we are not part of this government. We will provide our people, we will provide ministers. We do not necessarily have to put forward the prime minister, although we are the largest party in Parliament. But we want to unblock this situation,” Bogdan Ivan said.
Also criticising Ilie Bolojan, the former minister said that negotiations to form a majority were difficult as long as the acting prime minister was not willing to support a new government. He said that Bolojan “wants to remain at Victoria Palace”.
“The equation is linked to the fact that, I don’t know, whether you can still have any say when you, as PNL president, lie to the country’s president and lie to the presidents of the coalition parties. There is no point inviting Ilie Bolojan to talks any more, because he does not want to vote anyway and is doing everything he can to avoid voting on the government, because he wants to remain at Victoria Palace. He and his friends. And in this situation, it is obvious that you cannot count on his vote,” Ivan said.
The statements came as political parties have so far failed to form a majority of 233 MPs, which is required for the investiture of a new government.
Bogdan Ivan said that, in his view, PSD should talk to all parliamentary parties in an attempt to form a majority, including AUR.
He said that, when 233 mandatory votes are needed, talks must be held with all the political formations that can help form a majority.
“I have said it before, and I am saying this in my personal capacity. I have sometimes also been criticised by my own party, by a few voices, and outside it, when I said that yes, talks should also have been held with AUR. Because at this point you talk to everyone when you want to form a majority,” Bogdan Ivan said.
In the current parliamentary configuration, none of the three major political groups can form a majority on its own, Ivan also said.
“Beyond this point, it is obvious that I do not have all the details, because I did not conduct the negotiations on behalf of my party, but it is normal to talk to all the parliamentary political parties in order to command a majority,” Ivan said.
