Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan’s message after violence outside Government headquarters: Those trying to drag Romania into dangerous destabilisation must understand that no one wins when the country is divided by hatred and partisan interests.

He posted the message on Facebook on Tuesday evening:

  • “We all feel the tension in society, caught between overlapping crises that seem never to end.

Peaceful protests are an expression of democracy. Nothing, however, can excuse those who hijack these demonstrations and incite violence. Those trying to drag Romania into dangerous destabilisation must understand that no one wins when the country is divided by hatred and partisan interests.

We cannot afford to lose one another. We can succeed only together, with patience, wisdom and trust.

We all want the same thing: a better Romania for everyone.

I assure you that both the Government and I are acting in good faith and responsibly, doing everything in our power to ensure that Romania gets through this period as well as possible.

We are listening to society and responding concretely, wherever possible and always in the country’s interest,” Bolojan said.
