Bucharest Court of Appeal to judge appeal of doctors arrested in St.Pantelimon Hospital deaths case

Doctors Maria Miron and Mirela Paius from the Intensive Care Unit of the St. Pantelimon Hospital, remanded in custody for aggravated murder, are asking in court to be released, with their appeal due to be heard on Tuesday at the Bucharest Court of Appeal.

On August 8, Maria Miron, charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder, and Mirela Paius, charged with aggravated murder, both premeditated, were remanded in custody for 30 days.

They challenged the decision before of the Bucharest Tribunal, with the trial due to take place on Tuesday at the Bucharest Court of Appeal.

The prosecutors allege that in March and April, the doctors lowered the dose of noradrenaline, which plays a role in maintaining blood pressure, of a patient hospitalized in intensive care, and he went into cardiorespiratory arrest.
