Bucharest District 1, 2 current mayors announce they have recovered votes following recount in polling stations

Published on

Clotilde Armand, mayor of Bucharest District 1 and candidate for a new mandate on behalf of the United Right Alliance, announces the „recovery” of 185 votes.

„In one single polling station checked again we recovered 185 votes. One and 166. More than 1,000 are not found, and several hundred more minutes are changed without counting those votes. I have submitted over 80 requests for recounts and have received no response from BES. Everyone needs to get involved so that the votes in District 1 can be recounted,” writes Armand.

The mayor of District 2, Radu Mihaiu, candidate for a new mandate on behalf of the United Right Alliance, also announces that, following the recounts carried out in two polling stations, he recovered 294 votes.

One of these is polling station 352, where the 333 votes Radu Mihaiu obtained were reversed in the minutes with those of a counter-candidate. The polling station staff recognised the mistake and asked for it to be corrected.

„Counting has been completed in polling station 352. The incident documented. We’re ending a long, hard day, but it was worth it. 294 of your votes were brought to light. 294 extra votes from just two polling stations recounted today. But we’re not done. There are 30 polling stations left to recount. 30 polling stations with serious suspicions that PSD PNL [the Social Democratic Party – the National Liberal Party] keeps under cover because they know they are losing,” Mihaiu writes on Facebook.
