Bucharest records 777,756 tourist arrivals in first five months of 2025

Bucharest recorded 777,756 tourist arrivals in the first five months of 2025, according to data compiled by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). The peak of tourist traffic was reached in May, with 189,594 arrivals, while January saw the lowest influx, at 129,458.

According to INS, the majority of arrivals, namely 651,004 (83.7% of the total), were registered in hotels, followed by rented apartments and rooms, with 101,745 arrivals (13.08% of the total).

Regarding overnight stays, their number totalled 1,588,922 in the January-May 2025 period, with the highest figure recorded in May (382,999) and the lowest in January (265,383).

The net occupancy rate of accommodation units ranged between 37.4% in January and 54.9% in May 2025.

According to INS, nationwide, tourist accommodation facilities, including apartments and rented rooms, registered 4.49 million arrivals between 1 January and 31 May 2025, representing a 0.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Overnight stays in tourist accommodation totalled 8.74 million, an increase of 3.1%.
