The consolidated budget deficit rose to 4.04% of GDP after the first seven months of this year, from 3.68% at the end of June, and reached 76.44 billion lei, according to data published on Thursday by the Ministry of Finance.
Last year, the budget deficit was 71.04 billion lei in the same period, respectively 4.04% of GDP.
Total revenues amounted to 370.77 billion lei in the first seven months of 2025, registering an increase of 11.8% (year/year). Expressed as a share in GDP, total revenues increased by 0.74 percentage points.
The general consolidated budget expenditures in the amount of 447.21 billion lei increased in nominal terms by 11.1% compared to the same period of the previous year. Expressed as a percentage of Gross Domestic Product, expenditures for 2025 recorded an increase of 0.7 percentage points compared to the same period of 2024.
The budget for the current year is built on an economic growth of 2.5% and a budget deficit of 7% of GDP.
