A Bulgarian citizen, aged 28, is under criminal investigation after he tried to introduce into Romania, through Giurgiu Border Crossing Point, a number of 34 bags of loose tobacco with a total weight of 113 kilograms, hidden under the floor of the car he was driving was driving, the southern Giurgiu Border Police Inspectorate (ITPF) informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
„At the Giurgiu Border Crossing Point, on the way to enter the country, a 28-year-old Bulgarian citizen appeared at the wheel of a Mercedes Vaneo car, registered in Bulgaria. Following the border control carried out on the means of transport, the Giurgiu border police discovered in a specially designed compartment, located under the vehicle, on the floor, the amount of 113 kilograms of loose tobacco, packed in 34 bags,” the press release reads.
A criminal file was drawn up under the aspect of committing the crime of producing excisable products, and the entire quantity of tobacco, estimated at a value of over 10,000 RON, and the Mercedes Vaneo brand car, worth 25,000 RON, were seized in order to continue researches.
