The Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Diana Buzoianu, sent for approval by the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Enterprises’ Performance (AMEPIP) the mandate contract for the appointment of the Board of Directors of Romsilva, requesting compliance with the law with transparency and objectivity for the appointment of the interim general director of the company.

„These days, the Board of Directors of Romsilva will be appointed. I understand that there is great anger in some circles at Romsilva that I sent the mandate contract for approval to AMEPIP with an article expressly written about transparency and objectivity for the appointment of the interim general director. This interim general director is to be appointed by the CA resulting from the competition carried out 90% before I came to the Ministry of Environment. Obviously, the law does not provide for any minimum transparency on how the appointment of an interim general director is to be made by the CA – why? In this context, news is already circulating in the corners about who would be appointed immediately after the signing of the CA mandates,” Diana Buzoianu wrote on her Facebook page on Monday.

She stated that she could not agree to „something like that”, so she included in the mandate contract sent for approval for AMEPIP „a minimum standard” that would allow the announcement at least five days in advance of the fact that an interim general director would be appointed (the Board of Directors being obliged to immediately launch a competition to fill the position in accordance with GEO 109/2011) so that any interested person with a serious CV could be taken into account”.

She also added that these CVs must be analyzed and the selection made must be argued in terms of the best competencies among all the people who applied for this position.

„Obviously, immediately after I proposed this minimal standard in the mandate contract (which, therefore, I have great doubts that it would have been applied), ‘objective’ articles began to circulate on all kinds of sites, stating that someone or something else was wanted as interim general director. I want to convey to all those in Romsilva who have the impression that we don’t see what games the Ministry of Environment is playing: I will do everything in my power so that politics and negotiations under the table with some or other do not further destroy this institution. Fairness. That’s what we want,” Diana Buzoianu also wrote.

On July 29, Minister Diana Buzoianu sent the report of the Control Body carried out at Romsilva to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice. The results of the control carried out at RNP and, in particular, at the Maramures Forestry Directorate are extremely serious: massive financial losses, unjustified bonuses granted to loss-making departments, poorly managed special funds, etc.
