Caciu: Largest investment program in health infrastructure starts on Friday, budget exceeds 13 billion RON

Published on

The largest investment program in the health infrastructure begins on Friday, November 1, 2024, with the opening of the call for submission of projects within the National Program for Investments in the Infrastructure of Hospital Units, the allocated budget being over 13 billion RON, the minister of European Investments and Projects, Adrian Caciu, posted on his Facebook page, on Thursday.

According to him, the potential beneficiaries of this national program can submit projects for one month, until the deadline established by the PNIIUS related Financing Guide, namely December 2, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.

„Through the launch of this call, numerous investments in the health infrastructure will be made: new hospital constructions, modernization, expansion and equipping of hospitals. The health units will be supported and will benefit from structural improvements, modern equipment and resources necessary to provide health services more efficient and accessible health to the communities they serve. Since there was enough time for the preparation of these projects expected by the citizens, I wish that the submission, evaluation and contracting of these financings will be carried out as quickly as possible, so that the year 2025 will be the year of the most largest investments in health in history (along with those already underway in the PNRR, the Health Program and the three regional hospitals),” said Caciu.

The head of European Investments and Projects emphasized that the program aims at a better distribution of the health infrastructure between regions and counties, increasing the population’s access to quality medical services, increasing the effectiveness of medical services, better adapting the infrastructure to new technological requirements and ensuring functional and efficient circuits.

„The program contributes to the development of a viable system for all actors involved in the health system in Romania. The total allocation is substantial, the allocated budget is over 13 billion RON,” he added.

Out of the total, 2.1 billion RON are allocated for city and municipal/municipal emergency hospitals; 7.3 billion RON for county/county emergency hospitals, specialty hospitals, clinical hospitals and emergency clinics; 500 million RON for sanitary units financed through projects carried out through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014 – 2020 and through the Regional Operational Program 2014 – 2020, which were declared incomplete on 31.12.2023 and which are not phased in through the programs related to the 2021 programming period -2027 or financed by PNRR; 3.25 billion RON for public health units that were approved for financing from the PNRR by the Ministry of Health, as the coordinator of reforms and investments for component 12.
