Central authorities reps participating in conference on circular economy in Romania

Published on

Representatives of central authorities will participate on Tuesday in the conference „Romania’s circular economy: from the Guarantee-Return System to the reuse and recycling of electronics and industrial materials”, write Agerpres.

„The law that can fundamentally change the recycling industry in Romania comes into force at the end of 2023: the Guarantee-Return System (SGR), which is expected to have a strong impact on the whole chain of stakeholders – from packaging producers, to large retailers and small traders, to those providing take-back and recycling infrastructure, to consumers. But SGR is only one step: the whole is Romania’s circular economy, which means recovering packaging, electronics, industrial and other materials, processing all reusable components and putting them back into the economy. The circular economy also means the simple repair and reuse of products that can be made functional again,” underline the organisers of the event, CursdeGuvernare.

Among those expected at the debate are Mircea Fechet – Minister of the Environment, Water and Forests, Radu Oprea – Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Gemma Webb – Chairwoman of RetuRO SGR and CEO, Julia Leferman – CEO of „Brewers of Romania” Association, Alin Visan – president of the Romanian Association for Packaging and Environment (ARAM), Geanin Serban – president of the OIREP Packaging Association, Elena Gaspar – president of the National Battery Recycling System, Paul-Henri Kohler – president of the Cellulose and Paper Industry Employers’ Association (ROMPAP) and Valentin Negoita – president of the Ecotic Association.
