CFR Calatori’s estimated losses for 2024 increase by 464%, to 1.03 bn RON (estimate)

The state operator of passenger rail transport CFR Calatori estimates for 2024 losses of 1.026 billion RON, 464% higher than those reported on December 31, 2023, these being mainly determined by the decrease of almost 30 % of the compensation granted from the state budget and the increase in salary expenses to almost 1.8 billion RON as a result of the application of the Law on the status of railway workers.

According to the draft Government Decision on the approval of the 2024 income and expenditure budget of the CFR Calatori company, the total revenues in the amount of 2.753 billion RON are scheduled to decrease compared to those achieved in 2023 by 6.68%, respectively by the amount of 196.876 million RON.

In the structure, operating revenues in the amount of 2.752 billion RON have a weight of 99.98%, and financial revenues in the amount of 500,000 RON have a weight of 0.02% in the total revenues. Operating revenues are scheduled to decrease by 6.68% compared to those achieved on 12.31.2023, respectively by the amount of 196.994 million RON.

The turnover, in the amount of 1.472 billion RON, is scheduled to increase by 22.28%, respectively by 268.170 million RON compared to the one achieved at the end of last year and represents 53.48% of the total operating income.

The revenues from the services provided, respectively the revenues from the public railway passenger transport, will increase by 22.06% in 2024, with the amount of 267.883 million RON, as a result of the increase in the volume of activity, the increase in tariffs by 8% starting from the month of November 2023, as well as the increase, in 2023, of the free allowances granted to students for rail travel, according to Law no. 199/2023.
