CFR SA opens bids for awarding of contracts for rehabilitation of two railway lines

Two associations submitted bids for the awarding of the contract for the rehabilitation of the railway line Craiova – Drobeta Turnu Severin – Caransebes (Lot 3), and three other associations and a single bidder are interested in the modernization of the railway infrastructure between CF Bucharest Nord – Jilava – Giurgiu Nord – Giurgiu Nord Border stations (Lot 2), informs Romanian Railway Company (CFR).

According to a press release sent on Monday to AGERPRES, as part of the tender opening procedure, Asocierea FCC Construccion S.A. submitted bids. (Leader), Gulemark Spolka Z Ograniczona Odpowiedzialnoscia and Association Kolin Insaat Turizm Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Leader) – Straco Holding.

The estimated value of the public procurement for the „Rehabilitation of the railway line Craiova – Drobeta Turnu Severin – Caransebes, part of the Orient/East-Mediterranean Corridor” – LOT 3 is in the range of 5.167 billion RON – 6.152 billion RON, without VAT, and the source of financing will be provided from non-refundable funds through the Transport Program (PT) 2012 – 2027 and from the state budget.

The duration for the development of the technical project and the execution of the works will be 72 months, of which 12 months for design and 60 months for execution.

The public procurement for Lot 3 provides for the design and execution of modernization works on a route of approximately 41,234 km (km 331+000 – 362+632).

At the same time, CFR SA opened on Monday afternoon the bids submitted to the sectoral procurement procedure regarding the awarding of the design and execution contract related to the investment objective „Modernization of the railway infrastructure between the CF stations Bucharest Nord – Jilava – Giurgiu Nord – Giurgiu Nord Border – Lot 2”.

Thus, the offers came from: FCC Construccion S.A. (sole bidder), Arcadia Company Association (Leader) – S.C. Alstom Transport S.A., Porr Construct Association (Leader) – IMSAT, and ZUE Association (Leader) – CON-A Operations – UTI Construction and Facility Management.

For Lot 2 of this project, the estimated value of the public procurement is in the range of 2.259 billion RON – 2.711 billion RON, without VAT, and the financing source will be provided from non-reimbursable funds (CEF) and from the state budget. The duration for the development of the technical project and the execution of the works will be 36 months, of which 6 months for design and 30 months for execution.

The modernization of the railway line on the route Bucharest Progresu – Jilava – Giurgiu Nord – Giurgiu Nord Border (Lot 2), in length of 93.45 km (without the Vidra – Comana interval, included in Lot 1), includes electrification and signaling, by implementing the ERTMS system.

CFR SA mentions that the railway line Bucharest Nord – Giurgiu Nord Border is an important line from an economic point of view, by taking over the international traffic from the two central corridors that cross the territory of Romania and the connection between the Rhine – Danube Corridor and the countries from the southeast of Europe (Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey), by crossing the Danube on the Friendship Bridge, in the border sector between Romania and Bulgaria.
