Challenges involving drones, likely to continue in the near future, says Defence Minister Mosteanu

Published on

Minister of National Defence Ionut Mosteanu said on Friday that „challenges” involving drones are likely to continue in the near future, emphasizing the importance of „wisely” making decisions.

„Unfortunately, we are neighbors to a war; some of the neighbors watch the war from their balconies in Tulcea, and that is a reality. But we can remain calm because we are under this large protective umbrella,” the Romanian defence minister said during his participation at the Aspen European Strategic Forum.

He highlighted the importance of allied cooperation. „We will continue to face such challenges. I am certain that, as we have seen with challenges in Poland and Romania, there will be more. What matters is making decisions wisely and showing that we are prepared to defend ourselves. That is what we have done and will continue to do together with our allies. (…) Occasionally, an aircraft enters Romanian-controlled airspace over the Black Sea, and incidents like this happen; we are neighbors to a war, whether we like it or not. That is the reality. What is important is that our institutions — and this is what we do every day — work more closely with our allies and respond more quickly to such challenges,” Mosteanu explained. AGERPRES
