The leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Marcel Ciolacu, said Sunday evening on Realitatea PLUS that the possibility of a joint candidate in the presidential elections in autumn is not excluded. The statement came in the context of the favourable results obtained by the PSD+PNL alliance in the local and European parliamentary elections, according to exit polls, writes realitatea.net.

„Given the exit-poll result, which puts us at 52%, we must consider all options to maximise our chances in the presidential elections in the autumn,” Ciolacu said.

Asked if it is possible for the PSD and PNL to go with a single candidate in the presidential elections, Ciolacu replied, „From my point of view, not having a discussion in the coalition and with Mr Ciucă, it is not possible to say ‘No’ at this moment to such a possibility, especially after seeing that the score is 5 ahead. The electorate gives you certain signals.”
