Ciolacu: AI Research Institute in Cluj-Napoca will become an elite organisation

Published on

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu says that the new Artificial Intelligence Research Institute in Cluj-Napoca, whose construction site he visited on Saturday, will quickly become an elite organisation in Europe.

„I have visited the construction site of the new Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, built by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UCTN), which will quickly become an elite organisation in Europe. 350 researchers, doctoral and master’s students will work in a high-performance technological centre, on an investment of over RON125 million. On the construction site started last autumn, work is being done at a sustained pace and I am convinced that the completion deadline of September 2025 will be met,” Ciolacu wrote in a social media post on Saturday.

According to Ciolacu, „Cluj will thus become a true national hub in Artificial Intelligence, and UCTN will significantly expand its number of international companies with which it will collaborate, in addition to Volkswagen, Bosch, Emerson and Continental, while starting projects including with American giants such as Lockheed Martin.”

„This is a sure way to develop Romania using all the advantages of new technologies and the exceptional talent of the young people of Cluj-Napoca and beyond!”
