Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Friday that he had a discussion with Economy Minister Bogdan Ivan about how the president of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), Cristian Popescu-Piedone, carries out consumer protection controls, emphasizing that, in his opinion, the head of ANPC „exaggerates in certain areas”, in the sense that „there is too much advertising, somehow assimilated to personal advertising”.
He answered this way when asked how he, as prime minister, views the working methods of the acting president of the National Authority for Consumer Protection, Cristian Popescu-Piedone, and whether he has any „objections” or „fully” supports him.
„First of all, he is a minister’s subordinate… I support any control activity, it seems right to me to do it. I think he is exaggerating in certain areas, but it is not my job to talk to Mr. Piedone. I spoke with Mr. Minister Bogdan Ivan and I am firmly convinced that he will have discussions about it… I think it is too much publicity and, somehow, it is assimilated to personal publicity. However, it should remain in the job description,” Marcel Ciolacu also declared.
The Head of the Executive made the statement at the end of the visit to the construction site of the High Fire Center within the „Pius Branzeu” County Emergency Clinical Hospital in Timisoara.
