Ciolacu: Sector 5 mayor has a place in this team to build something for Bucharest

Published on

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) president, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, believes that the place of the mayor of Sector 5, Cristian Popescu (Piedone), is also in the social-democratic team, „to build something for Bucharest”.

Asked on Wednesday if he invited the mayor of Sector 5 to negotiations, Ciolacu said that he „sent him a message”: „No, I did not ask for this. I sent a message, together with Mrs. Gabriela Firea, together with all my sector mayor colleagues or candidates for the sector mayors, to see what is more important for the citizens of Bucharest and less important for us, as politicians or as individuals. And I think that Mr. Cristian Popescu (Piedone) belongs to this team, to build something for Bucharest”.

Ciolacu emphasized that „Cristian Popescu’s place (Piedone) in this team can only be as mayor, in the future, in Sector 5”.

„I don’t urge anyone. Each of us decides what we have to do. I create opportunities for my son, because that’s my purpose as a father. The decision belongs to my son, it’s as simple as possible. I think we forget them from this equation. The people of Bucharest decide. Gone are the days when politics was decided in an office, and after a few years, those times are gone. The people of Bucharest will decide what is best for them better for the citizens of Bucharest. A project, a vision with Daniel Baluta, with Gabriela Firea. I am firmly convinced that Mr. Piedone has a place in this construction together we see what is best for Bucharest. We have to overcome personal pride. (…) The decision belongs to each one,” added the PSD head when asked if his statements were urging Popescu (Piedone) to withdraw from the race for the Bucharest mayoralty.

Marcel Ciolacu was sure that „the future mayor of the capital city will be Gabriela Firea”.
