Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu had a meeting on Tuesday with Romanians living in Qatar, to whom he told that he is convinced that in this country they earn much better financially than they would earn in Romania, but he also told them that he wants them to return to the country.
„You are in a totally different country from the one you were born in and it is obvious that your efforts have been all the greater to adapt to a country so different from Romania. You have my respect and I am very happy that you have accepted the Ambassador’s invitation. I came with a team of ministers, together with the Foreign Minister, to have applied discussions, especially in the economic area, but also in the political area. You know very well that Romania has the longest border with a state in armed conflict. Now we are again talking about a conflict in the Middle East, and it seems as if there is no end to this news. I and my entire team of ministers, my colleagues, will try to get as actively involved as possible and ensure that you are and will continue to be safe in Qatar, which is a safe country, just like Romania, Romania being a NATO member, and Qatar being in a partnership with the strategic partner that Romania has, namely the USA. I believe that after the Revolution this is one of Romania’s great achievements”, said Marcel Ciolacu, writes news.ro.
The Prime Minister explained to the Romanians in Qatar that there is economic growth in Romania despite the overlapping crises.
„I firmly believe that you earn much better financially in Qatar than you would have earned in Romania at this moment. I hope with all my heart, and the figures alone show us this growth trend in Romania which was primarily due to a period of political stability, in a period of crisis and security, not only energy or pandemic, and I hope with all my heart that together with my colleagues, until the end of the mandate, we will maintain this growth trend. It is obvious that I would like you to come back to Romania, especially after what the ambassador told us, how involved you are and how much you have contributed to the development of major projects in Qatar”, said Ciolacu.
The Prime Minister also told Romanians that he would like to see challenging projects in our country.
„I would very much like to find those challenging projects for your level of expectation in Romania as well. At the moment there is really no investment, there are investments of almost 100 billion. We are still lagging behind in the area of health, in the area of education. But I have said it in Romania and I say it here, it is Romania’s last train. If Romania misses this train and these European funds, this time, as well as the overlapping crises, through the PNRR and the PNRR reforms that will automatically lead to Romania’s accession to the OECD and the current European financial year, Romania has no more time and cannot catch up,” said Ciolacu.
