PSD Secretary-General Claudiu Manda claims that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has remained in government over the past four months on the basis of a “secret deal” with AUR leader George Simion, the details of which have never been made public. In an interview with Antena 3 CNN, he also announced that he would oppose the investiture of a government led by Siegfried Mureșan, whom he describes as “just another Bolojan, somewhat younger”.
”That is absolutely true, and I do not think we will decide to revisit that resolution, but it is only natural that, in such a situation, we should meet and debate it internally. In the end, we had hoped that the nomination made by the President of Romania would have meant either a prime minister from PSD or a candidate — let us call them neutral-technocratic — but that we would build a government around PSD.
That did not happen, and we need to discuss among ourselves how we see things. Beyond that, if we are to respond or not to Mr Mureșan’s wish to meet with us or with the parliamentary groups, then of course, before we take a position, he should submit a request for such a dialogue. So we are not changing our position.
I mean, if you said out in the streets now that reforms were needed, everyone would understand: it means you are raising VAT again, it means you are increasing taxes again, it means you are cutting wages again, it means you are trying to sack people again. But that is not necessarily what reform means.
