CNIPMMR: Romania’s accession to Schengen area will contribute to acceleration of commercial exchanges within the EU

Romania’s accession to the Schengen area will contribute to the acceleration of commercial exchanges within the European Union and will lead to an increase in the speed of movement of goods in parallel with a decrease in costs, supporting SMEs, the National Council of Private SMEs in Romania (CNIPMMR) claims, in a press release sent to Agerpres.

„Romania and the Romanians have shown a high level of solidarity both in Europe and with regard to its neighbors in all the complicated moments that Europe has gone through. Romanian SMEs in the export sectors, in industry, in transport, in agriculture must be treated equally as SMEs in the European Union in terms of the movement of goods, customs formalities, in a truly single market. The European market is not complete without Romania, and Romania is not complete without the European market on which it depends in the largest proportion. Romania and Romanians must be in Schengen,” said Florin Jianu, chairman of CNIPMMR.

According to employers’ association, Romania’s accession to the Schengen area represents a necessary step in the action of the EU states.

„Romania’s accession will contribute to the acceleration of commercial exchanges within the EU, increasing the speed of movement of goods in parallel with the reduction of costs, supporting SMEs at the level of the Union, a fact supported by the statistics on the geographical destination for Romanian exports and Romanian imports, the first partner countries being from the EU states, a solid argument for joining the Schengen area. Facilitating the movement of goods from/towards Ukraine, eliminating waiting times when crossing borders, is an important element of support in a war situation. In addition, to come to the support of the European Union’s support policies for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, in the context of the aggression of the Russian Federation, Romania’s accession to the Schengen area is clearly a necessary step in the action of the EU states. The international context in the vicinity of the EU makes it necessary to take measures that increase solidarity at the European level, and Romania’s accession to the Schengen area would contribute to the support of European values among society in general, and the business environment, in particular,” according to the quoted source.
