The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) updated, on Wednesday, the Code Red, Code Orange and Code Yellow flood warnings for several areas in the country, the validity period of which will expire, overall, on Friday at noon.
According to hydrologists, in the context of the current hydrometeorological situation and the weather forecasts for the next 24 hours, between May 28, 12:00 pm and May 29, 2:00 pm, there will be a Code Red warning of significant leaks on slopes, torrents and streams, flash floods, significant increases in flows and levels, with exceeding of the defence quotas, for rivers in the counties of Harghita, Mures, Brasov, Sibiu, Prahova, Buzau, Neamt, Bacau, Covasna, Vrancea, Botosani and Iasi.
At the same time, until Thursday, at midnight, a Code Orange of floods targets watercourses in Transilvania, Muntenia, Oltenia and Moldova, in the counties of: Harghita, Mures, Bistrita-Nasaud, Brasov, Sibiu, Alba, Arges, Dambovita, Valcea, Prahova, Ilfov, Ialomita, Buzau, Suceava, Neamt, Bacau, Covasna, Vrancea, Iasi, Vaslui, Galati and Botosani.
The specialized forecast reveals that a second Code Orange of significant hydrological phenomena will be valid between May 29, 12:00 pm – May 30, 12:00 pm, for Botosani county, in the Prut river basin, the upstream sector of the Stanca Costesti Accumulation.
In parallel, until Friday, at 12:00 pm, a Code Yellow for floods targets rivers in Maramures, Transilvania, Moldova, Muntenia and Oltenia, in the counties of: Maramures, Bistrita-Nasaud, Cluj, Harghita, Mures, Brasov, Sibiu, Alba, Covasna, Valcea, Arges, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Teleorman, Ilfov, Prahova, Ialomita, Buzau, Braila, Suceava, Neamt, Bacau, Vaslui, Iasi, Vrancea and Galati.
