The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a Code Yellow warning for heatwave and thermal discomfort, in effect on Thursday across 15 counties in the western and southern parts of the country.
Thus, on 3 July, between 12:00 and 21:00, exceptionally high temperatures for this time of year will be recorded in Maramures, Crisana, Banat, Oltenia, and western Transylvania. A heatwave and high thermal discomfort are expected.
Maximum temperatures will range between 33 and 37 degrees Celsius. The temperature-humidity index (THI) will reach or slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.
The counties under warning from meteorologists are: Satu Mare, Maramures, Salaj, Bihor, Cluj, Arad, Timis, Caras-Severin, Alba, Hunedoara, Dolj, Gorj, Valcea, Olt and Mehedinti.
Meteorologists note that on Friday the heatwave, high temperatures and thermal discomfort will extend and intensify across most of the country.
