The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued, on Friday, Code Yellow and Code Orange warnings of quantitatively significant rains, which will cover the entire country until Monday evening.
The affected areas start with the west of the country, Banat, Crisana, Maramures, western Transylvania and locally in the mountains, with periods of showers, electrical discharges and intensification of the wind, locally with gusts of generally 50 – 60 km/h. Isolated, there will be storms and hail will fall, and in short intervals of time or through accumulation the water quantities will be 20 – 25 liters/m2, isolated over 30 – 40 liters/m2. The showers will spread throughout the country, from west to east and in short intervals of time and through accumulation, the amounts of water will be between 25 and 40 liters/m2 and locally over 50 liters/m2.
The wind will intensify with gust speeds of 45 – 65 km/h, while in Moldavia and in eastern Muntenia there will be temporary gusts of over 70 km/h.
According to meteorologists, there will be a Code Orange of torrential and heavy rains in the northern and eastern counties of Oltenia, most of Muntenia, the southern and eastern Carpathians, including Bucharest. The quantities of water will be 50 to 90 liters/m2 and, isolated, will exceed 100 l/m2.
ANM specifies that the weather will cool sharply throughout the country. In the mountains, at altitudes generally over 1,700 meters, and mainly in the Eastern Carpathians, there will be precipitation in the form of sleet and snow.
The weather will cool down considerably in Bucharest, starting from the second part of the day on Saturday, during which there will be torrential rains with water quantities that will exceed 70 litres/m2, reveals the special forecast of the ANM.
The minimum temperature will be 14 – 16 degrees. The sky will be cloudy, and in the second part of the day and night there will be torrential showers and electrical discharges. In short periods of time and through accumulation, the water quantities will be 40 – 60 liters/m2, possibly over 70 liters/m2.
The wind will generally blow moderately with gust speeds of 40 – 55 km/h. The maximum temperature will be 24 – 25 degrees, and the minimum 10 – 11 degrees.
Also, during Monday, the thermal regime will continue to cool down, the sky will be more cloudy, and during the day it will temporarily rain. The wind will blow weak and moderate. The maximum temperature will be around 18 degrees Celsius.
