The Government approved on the institutional composition of Romania in the Monitoring Committee related to the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova Program, which has cross-border cooperation as its object, Agerpres reports.

According to a press release from the Executive, the memorandum proposes the institutional composition of Romania in the Monitoring Committee related to the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova Program, which will be responsible for the efficiency and implementation of this program, in which Romania participates as a partner in the cross-border cooperation component at the external borders of the European Union and is the Management Authority.

The eligible area of the program includes four counties in Romania (Iasi, Vaslui, Botosani and Galati), as well as the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova, which will benefit in the period 2021-2027 from non-refundable community financial assistance for the development of cooperation programs and projects European territorial (cross-border, transnational and inter-regional), aiming at the balanced development of the entire community territory, by encouraging cooperation and the exchange of good practices in all EU regions.

After the European Commission approved the Interreg VI-A NEXT Romania – Republic of Moldova Program at the end of last year and considering the very tight implementation schedule, the approval of the institutional composition of the Monitoring Committee is important for this committee to start its activity and can approve the necessary documents for launching calls for project proposals.
