Representatives of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) lauded the leadership of the Environmental Guard, after the said institution’s inspectors in the port of Constanta denied entry to Romania for more than 1,100 cylinders filled with fluorinated greenhouse gases, following a control at the Constanta Port Border Crossing Point, the institution’s representatives announced on Thursday, pointing out that the Environmental Guard’s efforts in fighting environmental crime have international echo as well, write Agerpres.

„Following the action of our colleagues from the Constanta Environmental Guard, the entry to the port of a very large number of containers from Turkey filled with fluorinated gases was stopped.

The representatives of the United Nations Environmental Program thanked Romania through the management of the National Environmental Guard and congratulated our institution for its action and the results obtained in combating the traffic of fluorinated greenhouse gases,” the Environmental Guard said.

On August 28, the Constanta Environmental Guard in cooperation with the Coast Guard did not allow entry to Romania for 1,140 cylinders filled with fluorinated greenhouse gases R134a, R410a and R407c from Turkey and which were supposed to reach a company in Brasov County.
