Construction volume goes up 11.7% January through October, in Romania

The volume of construction works January through October was 11.7 percent higher year-over-year in unadjusted terms, shows data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), according to Agerpres.

The structural elements to see growth as unadjusted series in the reporting period were capital repair works (+20.5 pct), current maintenance and repair works (+18.5 pct), and new construction works (+8.4 pct).

By construction objects, the volume of non-residential buildings went up 22 percent, the volume of engineering works advanced 10.3 percent, and that of residential buildings was up 3.8 percent.

Expressed as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality, the volume of construction works increased by 9.1 percent, as a result of current maintenance and repair works advancing 16.3 percent, capital repair works being up by 13.5 percent, and new construction works increasing 6.2 percent.

By construction objects, the volume of non-residential buildings went up 19.9 percent, that of residential buildings advanced 5.2 percent, while the volume of engineering works inched 3.8 percent.

In October 2022, the volume of construction works increased in unadjusted terms by 34.3 against October 2021, with capital repair works increasing by 76.6 percent, new constructions increasing by 31.3 percent and current repair and maintenance works increasing by 28 percent.

In the same reference period, engineering works advanced 50.2 percent, non-residential building advanced 41.5 percent and residential buildings advanced 2.8 percent.

When adjusted for business days and seasonality, the total volume of construction works increased by 32.9 percent, with growth being recorded in the capital repairs sector (75.2 percent), current repairs and maintenance works (32.5 percent) and new construction works (+30.1 percent). Moreover, engineering works increased 46.7 percent, the non-residential building sector increased by 42.2 percent and the residential sector went up 3.7 percent.

Month-on-month, construction works increased by 9.5 percent in October 2022, as gross series, and by 5.6 percent as adjusted series depending on the number of business days and seasonality.
