The delegations of the pro-European parties – PSD (Social Democratic Party), PNL (National Liberal Party), USR (Save Romania Union), UDMR (Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania) and representatives of the National Minorities Group – emphasised, during informal consultations at the Cotroceni Palace, that they understand the seriousness of the situation related to the budget deficit and committed to contribute to identifying responsible solutions, the Presidential Administration informs.
According to the same source, in this regard, at the initiative of President Nicusor Dan, it was agreed that, in parallel with the negotiations for the creation of the new Government, a plan of measures aimed at reducing public spending be developed, to be assumed and implemented by the future Executive.
„For this objective, the aforementioned parties and representatives of national minorities will set up a technical working group, which will hold its first meeting on Thursday, May 29, at 3:00 pm, at the Cotroceni Palace. The meetings of this working group, on behalf of the Presidential Administration, will be attended by Messrs. Radu Burnete and Dragos Anastasiu,” the Presidential Administration stated.
Representatives of the POT (Young People’s Party) and unaffiliated parliamentarians were also present at the informal consultations at the Cotroceni Palace, with AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) and SOS Romania refusing to take part in the discussions.
