The management of the Craiova International Airport signed on Friday a 12 million EUR contract with the association of companies that won the tender for the supply of intervention equipment and machinery, write Agerpres.

„These equipment will ensure both usual operations, such as runway maintenance, regardless of the season, as well as emergency interventions, fire or rescue situations. This way, the Craiova International Airport will align with the major airports of Europe, having a extremely modern emergency vehicle fleet, which will ensure flight procedures in safe conditions for both aircraft and passengers,” President of the Dolj County Council (CJ) Cosmin Vasile stated.

He added that the institution he leads supports all the projects currently being implemented at the Craiova International Airport, projects that amount to 150 million EUR, from non-refundable European funds.

„Thus, we contribute together to ensuring the comfort and safety of an increasing number of travelers,” the CJ Dolj president stated.

The contract for the purchase of equipment for the project called „Increasing the safety level of the Craiova International Airport through the purchase of specific equipment” was signed with S.C. Mountain Industrial Resources SRL (association leader), S.C. DKV Prest SRL (associate 1) and SC A.T.S.A. Industry SRL (associate 2).

Director of the Craiova International Airport Sorin Manda stated that the project is financed under Priority Axis No. 2 – Development of a quality, sustainable and efficient multi-modal transport system, Specific Objective 2.3 – Increasing the degree of sustainable use of airports, through the 2014-2020 Large Infrastructure Operational Programme and has a total value of 58,592,243.49 RON including the VAT, of which EU co-financing is 35,688,313.65 RON without the VAT.

The project’s implementation deadline is 30 November 2023.

„This project with non-reimbursable financing was started last year and now we are signing the purchase contract, and in the coming months we will receive this equipment. The airport will be equipped with equipment for emergency situations for airports and equipment for the smooth running of aeronautical activity in any season. Thus, we reach 150 million EUR, money that we are investing in this period for the development of the Craiova Airport,” Sorin Manda said.
