Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Crown, sent a letter of congratulations on Monday to the reelected president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, saying that Sandu’s reelection represents a victory for democracy and freedom.

„I send you my warmest congratulations on your reelection as president of the Republic of Moldova! It is a great joy to know that you will continue to guide these ancient lands on the European path. Like my predecessors, I am proud of the country that has once again entrusted you with confidence and hope. Your reelection by the nation represents a victory for democracy and freedom. This means a lot to those of us who aspire to a stable and prosperous future for the Republic of Moldova,” says HM Margareta.

The Custodian of the Romanian Crown voices her confidence that, despite difficulties, „Romanians, wherever they may be, will prove that they are all Europeans.”

„The Romanian Crown, like the Romanian spirit and national identity, has persevered despite the hardships that have befallen it. Therefore, I am convinced that, although we are at the beginning of the road and difficulties will continue, Romanians, wherever they may be, will prove that they are all Europeans,” the message from the Custodian of the Crown, Margareta, addressed to the reelected president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, also reads.

According to preliminary data compiled by the Central Electoral Commission, after counting votes from 99.86% of polling stations, Maia Sandu achieved a score of 55.41%, while her opponent, Alexandr Stoianoglo, received 44.59% of the votes.
