The decision on the non-taxation of pensions under 3,000 RON, a measure that applies to all pensions in the public system, but also to the defence and public order system, will come into force on Tuesday, the International Day of the Elderly, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said.
„Today, on the International Day of the Elderly, the decision on the non-taxation of pensions under 3,000 RON comes into force. A measure that applies to all pensions in the public system, but also for the defence and public order system and which completes the pension reform that came into force on September 1, through which we have eliminated inequalities and we have done justice for 3.8 million pensioners,” Ciolacu wrote on Facebook.
He added that such measures are in addition to other social protection decisions promoted by the government for low-income elderly people.
„Therefore, we have decided to increase some income ceilings for which pensioners receive support for the purchase of food and medicines or to pay heating bills. Through all these measures and reforms, I believe that we have demonstrated that our presence in government is the surest guarantee for pensioners that their interests are defended and fairly represented in the act of government. Because that means respect for those who have worked a lifetime! Happy birthday to all our fathers and grandfathers!,” the prime minister added.
