The decision regarding the proposal of a new minister for the defense portfolio is the Save Romania Union (USR)’s and the Prime Minister’s, declared the president Nicusor Dan.

He answered thus when asked who it depends on to have a defense minister by the end of this year, given the portfolio has been covered interim for more than two weeks since the resignation of Ionut Mosteanu and in the context in which the president of the USR, Dominic Fritz, said that he had sent „three proposals”.

„I will talk to Dominic Fritz this very evening, on the plane, and we will see. The decision is up USR’s and the Prime Minister’s, but obviously I can have it and, if Mr. Fritz wishes, we can have a discussion on the subject,” Nicusor Dan told a Tuesday’s press conference at the Romanian Embassy in Paris, after the meeting held at the Elysee Palace with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

Ionut Mosteanu announced on November 28 that he was resigning from the position of Minister of National Defense, and the Minister of Economy, Radu Miruta was appointed as interim in his place. AGERPRES
