Romania’s Defence Minister Angel Tilvar on Friday welcomed Israeli ambassador in Bucharest, Reuven Azar, at the Defence Ministry (MApN) headquarters, Agerpres informs.

The two officials addressed current security affairs as well as the main milestones of defence co-operation both bilaterally and with NATO and the EU, according to a MApN press release.

The two officials reviewed the state of play in bilateral defence co-operation and prospects for future collaboration.

„A fruitful relationship with the Israeli armed forces was highlighted, with the interest of the Romanian side being expressed in developing co-operation in joint training as well as at the level of the air forces, navies and military medicine”. The bilateral political-military dialogue was also emphasised, with mention of an official visit by the Romanian defence minister to Israel in 2022.

Tilvar praised Israel for its role as a partner in the NATO Mediterranean Dialogue, pointing to support for strengthening the relationships between Israel and the European Union.
