Minister of National Defence Angel Tilvar and the US ambassador to Romania, Kathleen Ann Kavalec, visited on Monday the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Military Air Base, in southeastern Constanta, together with the chief of the Defence Staff, general Daniel Petrescu, according to Agerpres.

Minister Tilvar and the chief of Defense thanked ambassador Kavalec for the substantial commitment of the US forces deployed in our country to strengthening the security of the Euro-Atlantic space on the eastern flank, clear proof of the Romanian-American partnership, as well as the unity and solidarity of the Alliance in the context of the war in Ukraine and the security situation in the Black Sea region, MApN informs, in a press release sent to Agerpres.

According to the cited source, Angel Tilvar said that Romania remains a reliable ally of the United States, recalling, in context, that this year marks three decades since the launch of the „State Partnership Program”, a platform that ensured the progressive development of cooperation between the Romanian military and those of the National Guard of the U.S State of Alabama.

„Together, we participate in the collective effort for regional stability by strengthening the deterrence and defence posture, and the excellent level of cooperation between our armed forces, demonstrated day by day, through a wide range of actions, which includes joint training missions, activities of enhanced air policing, increased vigilance, situational awareness, as well as the development of some military infrastructures, are concrete evidence of the solidity of our strategic partnership,” said minister Angel Tilvar.
