The Minister of National Defense, Ionut Mosteanu, thanked on Wednesday the reservists from Sibiu and Mures counties who participated in the MOBEX exercise at the Poplaca training ground near the city of Sibiu, on which occasion he emphasized that „the operational reserve of the army is a very important resource, which must be permanently trained and prepared”.

„The operational reserve of the army is a very important resource, which must be constantly trained and prepared to respond efficiently to any situation. It is our responsibility to invest in people, in training programs and in modern equipment, in order to ensure the security of Romania and our allies. I thank all the reservists for their exemplary involvement, for the civic spirit and for the social responsibility they demonstrate”, Minister Ionut Mosteanu said, according to a press release sent by the Ministry of National Defense.

Present in Sibiu, the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad, highlighted the essential role of the reservists in the mobilization process.

„Coherence, discipline and team spirit are the foundation of a prepared army. Reservists complete the active structures and contribute decisively to the consolidation of the operational capacity of the Romanian Army”, said General Vlad.

Reservists from Sibiu and Mures counties were called up for the MOBEX SB-MS 25 exercise, which began on Monday and will end on Sunday. They undergo a training program during a one-day instruction, in which they become familiar with the missions of the units to which they are assigned and with the types of weapons they are equipped with. They also participate in training workshops for providing first aid in combat, decontamination, communications and individual weapon firing.

Exercises of this type are held periodically and aim to verify the personnel and equipment complement of military units, as well as to strengthen cohesion between reservists and active military personnel.

The next MOBEX will be organized in Bucharest and Ilfov, in October, according to the Ministry of National Defense.
