Angel Tilvar and his counterpart from the Republic of Moldova, Anatolie Nosatii, who is on an official visit to Romania, discussed the latest developments regarding the security situation in the Black Sea region and concrete ways to support the increase of the resilience of the Republic of Moldova, in the context of Romania’s efforts to support the European course of Chisinau.
„We are aware of the hybrid threats that the Republic of Moldova is facing and discussed with minister Nosatii about the ways in which Romania can provide concrete support, depending on the identified needs. We reaffirmed our firm commitment to strengthening security and promoting stability in the region, as well as for the modernization and reform of the defense system of the Republic of Moldova, through exchanges of expertise and joint exercises between the two armies,” emphasized minister Tilvar, quoted in the press release.
At the same time, Angel Tilvar emphasized the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, which continues to evolve, the Republic of Moldova being firmly committed to its European course. In this context, minister Tilvar reiterated the support that Romania gives to the Republic of Moldova, within all the formats of international cooperation and consultations in which it is present, where our country constantly promotes the progress achieved by the authorities in Chisinau in the assumed European course, advocating for the involvement of the international community in supporting the Republic of Moldova to achieve this goal.
The Romanian minister also highlighted the potential for strengthening the profile in the region offered by the recent acquisition, with the help of Romania, of the status of a full member of the South-Eastern European Defense Ministers Meetings (SEDM) process, the presidency of which is chaired by our country, in the period 2023-2025.
