On Spain’s National Day, independent MP Dumitrița Albu says that Spain is celebrating Fiesta Nacional de España – an important day for all Spaniards, but also for the large community of Romanians who live, work, and contribute daily to the economic and social life of the Kingdom of Spain.
„October 12 – Spain’s National Day! Today, Spain celebrates Fiesta Nacional de España – an important day for all Spaniards, but also for the large community of Romanians who live, work, and contribute daily to the economic and social life of the Kingdom of Spain.
Romanians in Spain form one of the largest and best-integrated communities in our diaspora. Through hard work, dedication, and commitment, they have become an example of adaptation, solidarity, and respect, while preserving their Romanian identity and values.
However, I know that, beyond their successes, there are also natural expectations.
One of the most important is the entry into force of the Agreement on the recognition of dual citizenship in the Kingdom of Spain for Romanian citizens – a necessary step to reflect the profound reality of the ties between the two states and their citizens.
At the beginning of my term, I submitted an official inquiry regarding this agreement, requesting clarification on its status and implementation deadlines.
Unfortunately, the response I received did not provide any concrete details, but I will continue to follow this issue and support the necessary steps so that Romanians in Spain can benefit from the recognition of dual citizenship.
At the same time, as a representative of Romanians in the diaspora, I want to promote public policies that support those who want to return home—through real reintegration programs, jobs, and support services.
But it is equally important not to forget those Romanians who have chosen to remain abroad but continue to be emotionally attached to Romania, sending home not only resources but also confidence, experience, and an example of success.
Today, I extend my respect and gratitude to all Romanians in Spain.
Through you, Romania is alive in every corner of Spain—in communities, in families, in workplaces, and in the hearts of those who know you.
Feliz Día Nacional de España!
Happy birthday to Spain and to all Romanians who call Spain „home”!”, says MP Dumitrița Albu.
