Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu declared on Tuesday evening, on the Digi24 private television, that in order to increase the collections of the state budget, respectively the reduction of the budget deficit, it is necessary to digitize the National Tax Management Agency (ANAF), an institution that will also use artificial intelligence, because „no one works with a pen anymore”
„We reached a deficit, according to the latest calculations, of 5.6%. It is more than certain that we will close (the budget deficit, ed. n.) around 5% and we will have a new agreement with the European Union. The discussions are whether it will be for five years or seven years, so that we cannot stop the investments we have at this moment,” said Ciolacu.
„We already have higher collections from VAT, of 17%. So it is clear, it is obvious that we need software. (…) We have tens of billions (RON, ed. n.) introduced into the system. There is artificial intelligence, It does risk calculations and says: The official doesn’t have to leave ANAF with the briefcase, to see where he/she goes to control (…) We have to modernize, because we don’t have time anymore. It’s happening now, in real time,” said the head of Government.
