DIICOT has announced that it has ordered the arrest of 22 drug traffickers who are part of a network that sold drugs (cocaine, cannabis, and ecstasy) in several clubs and venues in Bucharest, and that they will be brought before a court with a request for pretrial detention.
According to judicial sources, the traffickers in this network sold drugs in the vicinity of venues in the capital, such as Guava and Pescobar
Mon Cher, as well as in the Inter area and at the Elrow Festival held at Sala Laminor.
Following searches conducted on Thursday, approximately 500 grams of cannabis, 70 grams of cocaine, approximately 80 ecstasy tablets and fragments of ecstasy tablets, various quantities of crystalline 3CMC, ketamine, psilocin, and MDMA, 7 hand-rolled cigarettes, and several bags, envelopes, and containers holding substances in plant, powder, and liquid form, currently undergoing forensic analysis, pharmaceutical tablets containing alprazolam as the active ingredient, objects bearing traces of the substance, two pellet guns (possessed illegally), a safe, sums of money in lei and euros, two luxury cars, as well as other evidence.
Furthermore, during the criminal investigation, various quantities of high-risk drugs and psychoactive substances, traded by the group’s members in Bucharest, were seized.
On Friday, DIICOT filed a motion with the judge for rights and freedoms requesting the preventive detention of 22 individuals (two of whom are already in custody in other cases) and house arrest for two others, for a period of 30 days.
According to a statement from the Romanian Police, beginning in the fall of 2025, an organized crime group was formed in Bucharest, consisting of over 30 members, which engaged in the sale of high-risk and very high-risk drugs, as well as new psychoactive substances, with increased activity at events and parties in the capital.
The group was organized as a multi-cellular structure, with overlapping members and direct connections between them, operating in concert within Bucharest nightclubs to sell drugs and psychoactive substances, particularly ecstasy, cocaine, and crystal meth.
The traffickers operated covertly, dividing up areas of operation within the clubs, quickly identifying customers, and conducting discreet transactions—including through prearranged gestures—with roles distributed between negotiators and those who would actually hand over the drugs.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the group also used associates for transportation and storage, as well as social media to signal their presence at events and attract customers, with constant communication between its members and online.
During the investigation, various quantities of drugs sold by the group’s members were seized, in the vicinity of clubs, cafes, and hotels in Sectors 1 and 3 of Bucharest, as well as during events (festivals, private parties).
At the same time, the members reportedly operated according to a specific pattern and primarily targeted consumers in the “young and very young” demographic, with above-average financial means, who frequented luxury entertainment venues and were highly vulnerable in the context of drug use.
At the time of the authorities’ intervention, the traffickers were reportedly preparing a coordinated drug distribution operation for festivals scheduled for the coming period.
