Government spokesperson Ioana Dogioiu declared on Thursday that the members of the Board of Directors „have absolutely no authority regarding the editorial policy” of the Romanian Broadcasting Company (SRR).

Dogioiu responded this way when asked how she commented on the accusations against her regarding „the Government’s involvement in the public radio station’s policy”, after her appointment to the SRR Board of Directors.

„The members of the Board of Directors have absolutely no authority regarding editorial policy and I can tell you, if you want, from my own experience, that while I worked at TVR – I was general editor at the time – I never met with any member of the Board of Directors. The members of the Board of Directors have a completely different job. It’s about development strategies, it’s about budgets, other aspects that have nothing to do with editorial policy,” Ioana Dogioiu said in a press conference at Victoria Palace.

Parliament validated on Tuesday, by secret ballot, the members of the Board of Directors of the Romanian Broadcasting Company.AGERPRES
