USR President Dominic Fritz said on Thursday that his party wants to be part of the solution, noting that, together with PNL and UDMR, it stands by its proposal to appoint Siegfried Mureșan as prime minister, but is open to discussing another nomination by the President.
‘USR consistently wants to be part of the solution. We have once again put our position on the table. First of all, together with PNL and UDMR, we proposed Siegfried Mureșan, and we stand by that proposal. If the President does not wish to nominate Mr Mureșan and does not want the PSD proposal either, then, obviously, we are also open to discussing another nomination by the President. However, we believe that the government to be led by the future prime minister will have to be a coherent government and one capable of carrying out the necessary reforms to make Romanians better off,’ said the USR leader following consultations at Cotroceni with the head of state on the appointment of a prime minister.
Fritz added that his party also stands by its proposal for two successive minority governments, beginning with one formed by USR-PNL-UDMR, followed by one formed by PSD, both under the leadership of a prime minister who is nominated by the President and has everyone’s confidence.
