The interim president of USR, Dominic Fritz, declared on Wednesday that it is obvious that the future government will come out with a package of measures that none of the parties that will form the governing coalition will be satisfied with.
Dominic Fritz was asked, in a press conference held at the Palace of Parliament, if, following the negotiations at Cotroceni, he feels that USR is not wanted in government and if a certain party does not want USR to be in government.
„I, personally, in the discussions I had with the leaders of the potential partners, did not feel this. What is obvious, however, is that this government will come out with a package of measures that no one will be satisfied with. And this is actually what I propose to you as a criterion to evaluate the success of the coalition agreement. If all parties complain, then it is probably a fair agreement. Because there are no measures where there would be only winners. And this dynamic, of course, assumes that now some are trying to gain a short-term image, by throwing or pointing fingers at other partners. It is not a game I participate in. Once again: in the discussions I had, I felt that there is still a sense of seriousness and responsibility for the country and this is the coalition I work for,” the interim chairman of USR said.
He mentioned that, if USR does not enter the government, it will remain in opposition and will oppose in Parliament.
„We will vote for a government that we are part of. If we are not part of the government, we will be in opposition and we will oppose. So that is clear. But once again: I believe that there is a reason why these four parties are now at the table, I believe that there is a reason why, after Nicusor Dan’s victory, USR is also at the table and that is why I believe that the format as it is is healthy,” said Dominic Fritz.
