Downward trend for share of imported second-hand cars in Q1 total new registrations

New registrations of passenger vehicles were 3.5 percent up in Q1 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, while the share of imported second-hand cars in total new registrations was 67.2 percent, down 6.3 percentage points year-over-year, shows data released on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) that cite a statistical report of the Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration Department, write Agerpres.

In a YoY comparison, new registrations of passenger vehicles saw growth in all categories: bus and minibus registrations gained 25.8 percent, moped and motorcycle registrations advanced 13.1 percent, while passenger car registrations picked up 3.2 percent.

In terms of new registrations of new passenger vehicles, the developments were as follows: there was a 58.8 percent increase for buses and minibuses, a 27.6 percent percent advance in the ‘cars’ category, and a growth of 23.4 percent for mopeds and motorcycles.

As for new registrations of freight vehicles, numbers for new trucks (special utility vehicles included) dropped by 2.6 percent, while tractors advanced by 13.3 percent and trailers and semi-trailers picked up 4.8 percent.

Figures for new registrations of new freight vehicles were as follows: tractors advanced 29.8 percent, trucks (special utility vehicles included) gained 25.1 percent, and new trailers and semi-trailers advanced by 2.8 percent.
