President of ADR underlined, at the Romanian Digital Day, in the European Parliament, the fact that Romania has the Potential to Become a Digital Hub in Europe.
At the Romanian Digital Day event held at the European Parliament, Dragoș Vlad, President of the Romanian Digitization Authority, underlined Romania’s huge potential to become a regional leader in the digital field, with a significant impact on the European economy.
„Romania has a dynamic digital ecosystem, with an IT&C sector that contributes considerably to the country’s GDP and an internet infrastructure that is competitive at European level. However, the digitalization of the economy and public administration is still in the process of development. The adoption of new technologies can be accelerated through strategic policies and investments to support the digital transition”, said Dragos Vlad.
The event discussed key issues for Romania’s digital future, including building a modern digital infrastructure, investing in high-speed internet, including in rural areas, and implementing 5G and cloud computing technologies, which will boost innovation and efficiency in the public and private sectors.
According to the source, Romania needs to create a flexible and predictable legislative framework for start-ups, so that they can develop quickly and expand into international markets.
„Access to finance for technology companies must also be simplified and collaboration between universities and the private sector must be stepped up to support research and development in cutting-edge areas,” added Dragoș Vlad.
